Digital wallet

With so many ways of paying - online and in stores - you might want to make things faster and simpler with new, digital ways of paying.

Digital wallet is an electronic device that stores your payment data at one location, which can make cashless purchases online and in stores simpler and safer. Digital wallets can be linked to traditional banking accounts and store data about your credit and debit card, as well as payment data for payment systems online, like Google Pay™ or Apple Pay services. If you are a client of Erste Bank, you can add your Erste card to Google Pay or Apple Pay.

Digital wallet should simply be set up and used even easier to use. When you choose the desired digital wallet, enter your payment (card) data and the system will safely store it in one location.  If you want to use your digital wallet through your smartphone, which will enable them contactless payment in stores, you should have adequate application.

Digital wallets can make payments easier, faster and safer and they provide:

  • convenience - you can leave your wallet at home if you don’t want to bring it with you
  • one location for all your payment information, so that you don’t need to remember several PINs and passwords
  • possibility of online payment without the need to fill in your data every time you make a purchase

There are numerous advantages of digital wallets. There is no data filling in every time you log out or searching around your wallet in stores. Your payment information are stored at one protected, central location. Card number is never used at the application itself, but unique virtual number is assigned. This protects your money even if your smart phone is lost or stolen.

Digital wallets are safe because they are protected by biometric data, i.e. face recognition, fingerprint or code, and that is the only way you can log in to your application. They use verification and coding for protection of your personal data where, unlike traditional wallet, someone can have access to your payment cards if they are taken and find the PIN or even make contactless payment up to a certain amount.

Mobile operating devices are better in user protection from malware than desktop operating systems. However, you should take additional security measures in order to protect your data when using digital wallet, which includes:

  • using PIN or biometric protection of your smart phone
  • monitoring payments from your digital wallet

From now on, all users of payment cards issued by Erste Bank can use Google Pay and Apple Pay service. You can find more information bellow.
