Trading in securities in foreign markets
You need to have:
- a basic agreement with brokers,
- an annex to the agreement for foreign trading with brokers,
- a standard foreign currency account and
- a dedicated account for trading in financial instruments (FI) abroad.
Both cash accounts must be opened in all currencies in which you intend to purchase securities. Erste Bank does not charge fees for the opening and maintenance of dedicated cash accounts.
The steps to start trading are:
- send to the Erste broker your personal ID card details printout by email or submit it personally,
- the Erste broker sends you an application to open the accounts listed above,
- fill in the application and submit it personally to your nearest Erste Bank branch (if you wish to open these accounts, you can let us know in which branch you want to do so, and we will announce your arrival and prepare for you a part of the documentation in order to accelerate the procedure - one visit to the bank is sufficient),
- in the branch, you sign brokerage agreements and agreements related to the previously mentioned accounts,
- in the branch or through NetBanking, you deposit funds for trading in the dedicated cash account,
- no transfers or receipts of funds from abroad, or costs related to transfers..
There is a possibility that when, for example, you purchase shares in USD, but you have EUR in the dedicated currency account, at settlement, we will do an automatic conversion to USD at the Erste Group bank in Vienna, at the exchange rate that is very favorable for you.
You can issue trade orders in one of the following ways:
- Personally – to a broker or at a branch of your choice,
- By email that you confirm to us as valid for sending your orders and using the security PIN codes (we then send you the procedure for sending orders).
After your trade order is executed, we send you feedback, and then a confirmation.
